What we store, what we don't

Last updated: 28 May 2026

What we collect

When you create an account: your email, name, and (optionally) anything you tell us during onboarding — your partner's name, your baby's due date, your starting French level, your daily goal, and the preferred way for your child to address you.

As you use the app we store: which phrases you've seen, your spaced-repetition progress for each one, your favourites, custom phrases you add, and your streak.

We do not collect microphone recordings. Pronunciation feedback runs entirely in your browser using the Web Speech API — the only thing that leaves your device is the transcribed text, and only when you tap the mic button.

Where it lives

Your account data is stored in Postgres (provisioned through Neon, EU region). Your learning data lives in Convex Cloud. Audio for phrases you encounter is generated via OpenAI and cached in Convex storage — cached audio is shared across all users, so common phrases never need re-generating.

What we share

Nothing with third parties for marketing. We use OpenAI to generate speech audio (no personal data sent — just the French text), and Anthropic Claude as the tutor (your tutor messages are sent there).

Deleting your account

Email hello@papa-parle.app from your registered address and we'll remove your account and associated data within seven days.

Children

Gazou is for adults learning French. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. The app exists to help your child grow up bilingual — but the account is yours, not theirs.
